Masters II vs Wanneroo
16 July 2011
Match report by Rovers’ junior correspondent Zach (age 10, nearly 11) Anderson
In this game it was quite obvious that Wanneroo had had a lot more practice. Not only in passing, but also in creating space and keeping possession. The Hamersley players just couldn’t mark players or move into space. If Wanneroo had the ball, because of all of the space, they could slowly work it up the pitch. If a Hamersley player got the ball he would kick it long and hope the goalie wouldn’t get it.
About Wanneroo’s two goals. I am very sorry, but I was in the toilet for the first goal!
To get their second goal an attacker nutmegged Jamie and scored from about 30 metres out on a wide angle. There was a big gap on that side of the goal so the ball went into the goal.
When a Wanneroo player tripped up my dad, the guy next to me yelled “quit diving you F****** B******!”
The end
Editor’s note:
The first goal was the second unlucky own goal in 2 weeks. A very soft shot was going wide and Jas tried to block it, but only succeeded in deflecting it past poor old Grant. The good news here is that Jas was playing midfield and tracked back quickly enough to get into the 6 yard box at the right time!
