Jaguars Pounce on Poor Hamersley

Jaguars Pounce on Poor Hamersley

Hamersley Div 6 First Team knew that they were going to be in for a tough day at the office but the performance that they put in is surely going to dissapoint the players and the coaching staff. Jaguars were in control for the majority of the game and put Hamersley to the sword scoring 5 goals in the first half. A combination of good build up plays and poor defending lead to most of the Jaguars goals and the teams went into half time with Hamersley no doubt very frustrated by their performance.

The second half got underway with Hamersley performing much better than in the first. Jaguars scored 2 goals but Hamersley were able to get one back. A freekick was delivered in by Aleks Dudek and there was a scramble before the keeper picked the ball up. But just as the keeper picked the ball up Alex Chau managed to flick it out of his hands and into the goal scoring a somewhat dubious consolation goal for the rovers. Man of the Match goes to Aleks Dudek who put in a number of crucial challenges at the back preventing what could have been an even more embarassing scoreline.

Nichol Makes Sure Hamersley Head in the Right Direction 20/6/10

Nichol Makes Sure Hamersley Head in the Right Direction

Hamersley Rovers Div 6 ressies go into the match knowing that a strong performance will be required to topple the in-form Jaguars. The game got underway and both teams came out wanting to get a good start. It was a stalemate early on although we did think we had gone one up very early only to be ruled off for handball and Jaguars started to get frustrated with themselves and their team mates and thats where Hamersley looked to capitalize and it paid off. 35 minutes had gone and a sumptuous cross was delivered in by James Moran and Paul Nichol was able to get a head onto the ball and guided it over the keeper and into the net at the back post and Hamersley were full of belief after striking first. The teams then went into the half with Hamersley having the better of the chances.

The second half got underway and more of the same from Hamersley and before you could blink Hamersley were up 2-0, Paul Nichol was once again played through and made no mistake of it placing the ball around the keeper and into the far corner of the net. Hamersley were not finished yet however as Aleks Georgievski came off the bench to score a stunning goal. The ball was played over the defence and from a tight angle Aleks hit a volley with the ball on the rise into the backpost, looping over the keeper and hitting with enough power to put a hole through the net. Aaron then scored a fourth only to be ruled out for some reason.

Hamersley were able to maintain their cool, putting in a superb hard working and defensively sound performance and secure a fantastic 3-0 victory over the Jaguars. Not bad against a team top of the table who had scored 38 goals in 7 games and only conceded 5! Man of the match goes to Paul Nichol for his two goals but the whole team put in a very strong performance with every single player stepping up.

Hamersley Div 6 vs Sutherlands Park 13/6/10

Suther-Lands Killer Blow On Hamersley

Hamersley Rovers Div 6 First team took on a strong Sutherlands side who sit well above them on the table, however Hamersley went out and put out a strong fight. The first half kicked off and it proved to be a stalemate with both teams just feeling each other out. Hamersley didn't look threatening in the first 30 minutes however they were not threatened either as they held most of the possession.

With 5 minutes to go till half time Hamersley finally got the breakthrough. Aleks Dudek took a free-kick from wide right and hit a good ball into the box, the sun caused the Sutherland keeper some problems and was unable to deal with the cross, Boris Aleksic was most alert at the back post and had the simple task of sidefooting home the opener. They say you are most susceptible to conceding right after you score and this proved to be the case once again. Not long after scoring Hamersley were on the backfoot and Sutherlands were able to get the equaliser with what was the last kick of the half, leaving Hamersley shell-shocked going into the break.

Second half and both teams felt as though they really had the opportunity to take the game, however it was not meant to be for Hamersley and although they resisted several attacks, Sutherlands were able to run away with the game making it 3-1 with a couple of well taken goals. Hamersley were obviosuly dissapointed with the result but they should hold their head up high as they put in a very strong and pleasing performance. Man of the Match goes to John Carlson who kept Hamersley in the game with some fantastic saves. A mention to Alex Chau for the softest and most pitiful dive ever seen and a deserved yellow card for the attempt!

Hamerlsey Div 6 Reserves vs Sutherlands Park 13/6/10

Sutherlands Hit Hamersley For Six

Hamersley Div 6 Reserves took on Sutherlands Reserves at Sutherlands and looked to continue their good form. Hamersley have come off a good string of results being unbeaten in the league for a fair few games and were brimming with confidence before the game but also knew it would take a strong performance for Hamersley to get anything out of the game given Sutherlands superior league position.

The game finished 6-4 with the order of the goals scored difficult to remember, Sutherlands who went two up early on held the lead for most of the game as Hamersley kept coming from behind playing on the aptly named Gay Street ground. Steven Dodd was again in good form for the reserves able to score 2 goals, the first coming from an unfortunate 'Rob Green-esque' blunder as his cross to Nichol was tipped into the goal rather than over it.

Dodd's second goal came from a swift move down the left and he was able to hit his shot low and hard into the far bottom corner. Paul Nichol was also able to get a goal as he sprung up from a Steven Dodd cross and hit a smashing headed effort for the keeper to make a fantastic save, however Nichol was able to react fastest and put the ball in the back of the net with his left peg. The fourth goal came from Elia as he burst through past a couple of Sutherlands players and smashed a superb finish into the roof of the net.

The four goals however were not enough with Sutherlands slotting 6 past the rovers, with some sublime finishing. Rovers definately had the chances to get something out of the game but the combination of lack of finishing and the inability to keep sutherlands at bay proved too much. Man of the Match goes to Steven Dodd who was a constant menace in the first half and really caused Sutherlands some problems, special mentions to Elia and Abdul who ran out the whole game and really stepped up in the second half. Paul Nichol also did very well with a lot of great runs, but was not always picked out, but he lead the line well as a lone striker for the slightly under strength side.

If we had have started the game the same way we finished it, we could have easily come out winners!

Hamerlsey Div 6 vs Curtin 6/6/10

Curtins Close on Rovers First Team

Hamersley Div 6 First team looked to take on Curtin once again in the return leg after coming off a 2-2 draw a fortnight ago. Hamersley were confident going in and believed that they were capable of gettting some points out of this match. The first half kicked off and things looked to be goingg well for Hamersley but they were unable to consistently string a set of passes together going forward and after 10 minutes Hamersley were punished by a swift move. A Curtin player got the ball inside Hamersley's half and powered past Cameron Smith with pace and smashed it past Kim Le to make it 0-1. Hamersley were once again stunned by an early goal and the teams went into the half with Curtin scoring the only goal of the first half.

The second half was again a stalemate with neither team creating any clear cut chances but once again 10 minutes after the break Curtin were able to add another goal to the tally. A Curtin player was given too much room in the box and was able to slot home to make it 0-2. It was an even contest but Curtin were able to create goals from nothing which Hamersley was unable to do. The game finished 0-2 to Curtin in an unexpected result. Man of the Match goes to Nick (ranga) for his constant running and his dangerous crosses which the strikers were unable to get ont he end of. Special mentions for Jarrad and Abdul for their constant running throughout the match.
