Sunday Wrap: Round 8

17 June 2014
Hamersley Premiers were up against high flyers and defending champions North Perth United. In a hectic start reminiscent of the Socceroos against Chile, Rovers found themselves 2 goals down within 10 minutes. With a previous heavy defeat weighing on the mind against Fremantle Croatia the Hammers this time rolled up their sleeves and got back into the game courtesy of a Steve Kruit goal.
Rovers were right back in it and were battling hard to find the equaliser. Half way through the second half Kruit again found himself in front of goal but this time found the post instead of the back of the net. North Perth then went straight up the other end and secured the result with their 3rd in a 3-1 win. The team host BB United next week.
Despite it being a top of the table clash the Premier Reserves also had a tough task against top of the table North Perth Reserves who had a 100% win record. A goal from keeper Aaron Olow from inside his own half was not enough to prevent Rovers going down 2-1.
Division 4 have been playing exceptionally well in recent weeks but results not falling their way. Noranda City however were simply the better side this week in a 4-1 defeat for our boys. The Division 4 Reserves keep picking up points however in a 3-2 win with goal machine Bob Unganai bagging another two.
Ladies I had a bye but Ladies II stay in the winner’s circle with a 6-3 demolition of East Fremantle. Leesa Cramond with hat trick and single goals to Candice Morrow, Jacinta Pember and Mitch Kozak.
Social I had a bye while Social II travelled to North Perth United, losing 4-0. Social III entertained Noranda City and went down 4-2 in a closely fought game.
Masters I took on Bassendean Caledonian, going 3-0 up before conceding two and holding out for the 3 points. Masters II travelled up to Yanchep and were defeated 2-1.
