Masters II vs Joondalup

IMPROVEMENT - This is really what this game was all about.

We went into this game owing Joondalup "nothing" according to our fearless leader. First time around against this mob was an affair we'd all soon forget!

From the outset it was evident that we were not out of our depth and were going to prove a tougher task for the Joondalup lot this time round.

In the first 30 we had the better part of the possession than our more fancied opponents. However the first real chance fell to them - a well struck shot that and with cat-like reflexes by Jas/Jus/Marty the ball was deflected over the bar... although he was overheard saying "where did it go?".

Then we (!!!) scored... an expert through-ball from Mark and Paul was away. Convinced that he was offside the defenders did not give chase. Pillocks!!! Paul tucked the chance into the corner... and we were leading against the team that put a bakers dozen past us last time...

A chance from a cleared corner free kick and Grant fired high and wide (a la Mo). Then a bit of pinball from Carl saw a good chance go come to nought.

Half time 1-0.

We did not start the second half as well. Joondalup had a goal disallowed. We steadied the ship after some stern words from Tarun.

With 15 minutes to go it looked like a first win was imminent. However, it was not to be. An unorthodox attempt at a save by our goal keeper to head the ball away ended up in the back of our net! The football gods p****** on our parade!

We were lucky when the ref disallowed their appeals for a penalty after a late tackle near the end of the game. Although we had visions of pushing for a winner, I think we were tiring. The ref also thought so and blew the final whistle before Joondalup could steal it.

Well done lads.... 1 - 1.. a vast improvement. We will win soon.
