Three Hamersley Teams Remain in the Cup
01 June 2011
Hamersley Rovers entertained Gwelup Croatia at Carine Open Space in three games for the teams respective cup rounds. Rovers had to be content with two of three victories but the first team unfortunately lost in the Amateur Cup in a closely fought 2-1 defeat. The reserve team had more luck securing a 4-2 win over Gwelup reserves to move into the next round of the Amateur Reserves Cup, thanks to braces by Dave Howells and Gary McCue. And lastly Social I defeated their Gwelup counterparts 6-1 for them to progress to the next stage.
There was further success for Hamersley when Masters I beat rivals Shamrock Rovers 2-0 in a pulsating encounter. Division 5 reserves put up a brave fight against Premier League opposition, finally losing 3-0 but far from disgraced despite the 6 league difference.
